Magnox North Invests in Skills
Magnox Limited has reinforced its commitment to maintaining skills in the nuclear industry by renewing its annual subscription of £25k to continue its Associate Member status of the National Skills Academy for Nuclear.
Magnox Limited has given an undertaking to its customer (the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority) to ensure the appropriate levels of skills are present within the organisation to safely delivery nuclear decommissioning and clean up long-term.
The Skills Academy’s vision is to create a sustainable future for the UK nuclear industry by developing a quality, standardised and co-ordinated approach to education, training and skills in the nuclear sector.
Magnox Limited’s HR Director, Andrew Donovan, said: “We are very happy to support the Skills Academy for a further year. The work they are doing is essential in helping maintain the level of skills required for safe delivery of our customer’s nuclear clean-up strategy.”
“By helping to establish common standards and training packages, and so increasing efficiency and effectiveness, they are helping to ensure the supply of skills needed by the industry in the coming years.”
The Chief Executive of the National Skills Academy for Nuclear, Jean Llewellyn, said: “The Skills Academy enables nuclear employers to be at the forefront of skills development for their industry. By becoming an Associate Member, nuclear employers are taking an active role in addressing the skills challenges in their organisation and across the sector. Support for the Skills Academy from employers has been extremely high and I am pleased to see Magnox Limited’s continued support.”
Magnox Limited’s commitment to skills is further illustrated by its representation on the Skills Academy Board and Regional Steering Groups. Further additional support has also been given through secondments into the organisation which was launched at the start of the year.
