On 26th May 2010 Magnox hosted its third joint supply chain event. Held at the Park Royal Hotel in Warrington, the event brought together over 160 delegates from existing and potential suppliers.
The theme for the day was ‘Frameworks and Collaborative Procurements’ and joining the event were colleagues from across the Magnox businesses, Sellafield Ltd, Springfields Fuels Ltd and Dounreay Sites Restoration Ltd to talk about procurement opportunities across the NDA estate.
The morning session saw Phil Colwill, Peter Walkden and John Vieth from Magnox give an update on the supply chain strategy since the last event in Novemberlast year. Ron Gorham from the NDA and Keith Case from Sellafield Ltd talked about the impact of the Public Value Programme and the role of the Shared Services Alliance while Bob Wilson from Springfields Fuels Ltd and Sue Walker from Magnox gave detailed information on the specific opportunities for suppliers through frameworks and collaborative agreements.
The afternoon session was handed over to a meet the buyer and networking event which gave delegates an opportunity to meet with 11 different buyers about specific opportunities in the pipeline. Delegates also had an opportunity to network with colleagues and to meet with Achilles, OGC Buying Solutions, NDA, the Nuclear Industry Association and CTM who exhibited at the event to provide more information on the support services available.
John Vieth Magnox Supply Chain Relationships Manager said: “This event was once again a great success for us and the feedback we received from delegates has reinforced that. This is the third event we’ve hosted and each time we’ve been building on the feedback we’ve had from the delegates so that we can make sure the events are not only useful for us but more importantly for our suppliers too. If anyone who attended the event hasn’t yet had an opportunity to let us know what they think please do get in touch.”
